About

Most mothers teach their children how to cook and clean. Mine taught me to compost and to reuse everything. It’s a Yankee lesson in frugality that I’ve taken to heart. And to keep myself accountable for our newly frugal lifestyle, I started this blog. Here’s a long ago interview on Frugal Hacks about my blog’s origins.

I hope you’ll stick around, click on a few posts, sign up for a subscription (see link at right) and come back again soon.

  • Hello,

    I like your site! It’s very relevant these days. Have you gotten a lot more readers recently as the economy started to go down?

    I work on a site called Freebies Finder at http://absurdlycool.com and I wondered if you could give me any feedback about it? I launched it about a year ago and the user community has slowly grown ever since. I’m trying to figure out how best to attract new users. Because the site filters out free iPod scams and such, it really is useful for people who are trying to save money. I’ve been impressed about how much my readers like the site. Anyway, any feedback would be appreciated, and I’d love a mention on your site if you think it’s appropriate and useful for your other readers.

    Also, I’ve just started working on http://ohbigdeal.com and would love your thoughts on that as well. It updates all the time. It’s new, but if you think your readers would like it, a mention of this would be cool too!

  • Hi Frugal Mom,
    Would love to network with you and even maybe feature some of your information in our upcoming MaMa-Zine. Would you have a relevant article to contribute, that would contain information that wouldn’t ‘expire’, since this is an annual publication?

    Give me a SHOUT, we’re all about Moms at MaMapalooza.
    Best,
    Joy

  • Hi Joy,
    I love your site, you’ve done an amazing job with it. I hope one day to have as much to show for my work as you do. I would love to feature some of your things and maybe vice versa. I’m currently trying to get a following in Boston, focusing on young people (and young moms like myself) trying to live well in the city on a budget. I also just had a baby, so I’m hoping to also blog about natural and organic baby care. There are so many frugal sites out there, yet so few that take city prices into account. That’s where my blog comes in! If you could, please take a looksee and let me know what you think.

    • Taylor:

      What you see here on this blog is the result of two years of work, 5 to 7 days a week. Invest that kind of time in your blog, and I’ll bet you’ll be a runaway success. As far as a site for moms, you should check out MommaSaid.net. My friend Jen Singer runs it, and I’m a contributor over there, too. Best of luck to you.

  • Liked your blog so much, I added it to my blogroll!

  • Dear Leah;

    My name is Alina Adams and I write a column for Examiner.com spotlighting free and inexpensive things to do with kids in New York City, including music, art, dance, movies, sports and more, taking care to include as many multicultural, inter-ethnic and special needs events as possible. (You can see the column here: http://www.examiner.com/x-4993-NY-Frugal-Family-Examiner). The better to service my readers, I am eager to provide links to other blogs. Would you be interested in a link exchange with my column?

    Sincerely;

  • Leah,
    Great job with all the articles. I thought I was frugal but you’ve done an amazing job of teaching people the frugal lifestyle.
